Brad Christ is a St. Louis native, family man, and results-driven conservative state representative fighting for working families in suburban St. Louis.
Brad grew up in Shrewsbury, attended SLUH, and earned his degree from DePaul University. He is married to Erin and they have four children — Vivian, Hazel, Olive, and George — and reside in Sappington, St. Louis County. A lifelong Catholic, Brad volunteers at his parish, St. Catherine Laboure, and has dedicated his career to serving others both in the private sector and in public service.
What this means for your family: St. Louis County has a representative who is raising his own family here, is invested in the outcome, and will fight every day to make this a better place to live and raise children.
Brad represents Missouri House District 96, covering a portion of suburban St. Louis County.
First elected in November 2022, Brad assumed office on January 4, 2023, and is running for re-election in 2026. He has made public safety, economic growth, tax relief, and quality education his top priorities for the district.
What this means for your family: District 96 has an experienced lawmaker who hit the ground running and has delivered real results in Jefferson City.
Brad Christ spent nearly two decades in the private sector in insurance, risk consulting, and healthcare technology before entering public service.
Brad served as a Director at Aon, where he helped businesses manage commercial risk, health benefits, and mergers and acquisitions. He later worked at Marsh McLennan Agency and now consults at Crane Agency. Earlier in his career, he managed a $5 million technology business in Maryland Heights. He brings real-world experience with job creation, regulatory compliance, and business strategy to every vote he casts.
What this means for your family: Your representative understands how businesses grow, how jobs are created, and how government regulation either helps or hurts working families.
Brad Christ’s public service is guided by his commitment to family and his belief in limited, smart government that puts people first.
Brad has said he ran for office because, as a father of four with his income-earning years ahead of him, he has ‘a lot of skin in the game.’ He approaches every vote as a father and a neighbor, not as a career politician. His core beliefs include fiscal responsibility, strong public safety, and personal freedom.
What this means for your family: District 96 has a representative grounded in the same values as the families he serves — not a politician looking for the next rung on the ladder.
House Bill 495, signed into law in 2025, is Brad’s landmark achievement — restoring state oversight of the St. Louis Police Department and delivering the most comprehensive public safety reform in a generation.
Brad introduced the concept behind HB 495 on his first day in the legislature and fought for nearly three years to get it passed. Majority Floor Leader Alex Riley credited Brad as ‘the driving force that got it done.’ Governor Kehoe praised the bill as ‘a major step forward’ and a central piece of Missouri’s Safer Missouri crime plan.
What this means for your family: St. Louis neighborhoods are safer because Brad refused to give up on reforming a broken system.
HB 495 restores state oversight of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, increases penalties for violent crimes, and strengthens protections for children and communities.
The law establishes a new Board of Police Commissioners — four citizen commissioners and the Mayor — to oversee the SLMPD. It imposes felony charges for repeat stunt driving and street takeovers, classifies child endangerment involving fentanyl as a ‘dangerous felony,’ increases penalties for burglary and organized retail theft, and creates a new Committee on School Safety.
What this means for your family: Families in and around St. Louis benefit from tougher penalties, smarter oversight, and a renewed commitment to safe neighborhoods and safe schools.
Yes. Brad Christ is a strong supporter of law enforcement and has made officer recruitment, retention, and resources a cornerstone of his legislative agenda.
In addition to HB 495, Brad sponsored HB 1527, HB 1525, and HB 496 to provide financial incentives and college tuition aid for public safety personnel and their dependents. He recognizes that Missouri faces a serious first-responder shortage and believes officers deserve the tools, pay, and legal protections needed to do their jobs.
What this means for your family: When officers are supported and staffed properly, communities are safer — and Brad is making that happen.
Brad believes rising crime is the most urgent issue facing the St. Louis region and has made it his mission to deliver real solutions — not just talking points.
Since day one, Brad has pushed legislation to improve police oversight, increase penalties for violent offenders, and address root causes of crime. He supports a firm justice system that prioritizes victims over criminals and believes accountability — not leniency — is what keeps communities safe.
What this means for your family: St. Louis County families can trust that their representative is doing the hard work in Jefferson City to make their neighborhoods safer.
Brad Christ supported every major tax cut to come through the Missouri House since he took office —more than $1 billion in tax cuts by eliminating capital gains taxes and the tax on Social Security benefits, and reducing Missouri’s income tax from 6% to 4.7%, plus freezing property taxes for seniors.
The results speak for themselves. As the tax rates have fallen state revenue went up, not down. For every $1 Missouri cut in income taxes, the state has taken in roughly $2.50 more in revenue — from $8.9 billion before the cuts began to $13.6 billion today — a 53% increase. Lower taxes mean more people working, more businesses hiring, and more money moving through Missouri’s economy.
What this means for your family: Families in District 96 are seeing real savings — more take-home pay, lower investment taxes, and protection for seniors facing runaway property tax assessments.
Yes. Brad Christ chaired the House Special Committee on Property Tax Reform as a freshman legislator — an almost unheard-of honor — and advanced legislation to freeze property tax assessments for homeowners over 62.
Senate Bill 756, which Brad’s committee moved forward, protects seniors from the 200-300% property tax increases that were hitting St. Louis County homeowners hard. Brad understood that seniors on fixed incomes should not be taxed out of the homes they spent a lifetime paying for.
What this means for your family: Seniors in District 96 can age in place and stay in their homes without fear of confiscatory property tax increases.
Yes. Brad Christ supported eliminating Missouri’s capital gains tax to encourage investment, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.
Capital gains taxes punish savings and discourage reinvestment — particularly for small business owners, families selling a home, and investors who create jobs. Brad believes that a lower tax burden makes Missouri more competitive and gives families greater long-term financial security.
What this means for your family: Missouri families benefit from a more investment-friendly state that attracts businesses, grows wages, and creates opportunity.
Brad Christ supported balancing the state budget and reducing spending for the first time in over a decade, saving $1.3 billion for Missouri’s rainy-day fund.
Brad believes the state should operate the same way families do — spending within its means, saving for emergencies, and not passing debt to the next generation. He has opposed wasteful spending and supported responsible budgeting that prioritizes essential services without raising taxes.
What this means for your family: Missouri’s financial house is in order, which means families are protected from future tax increases and economic downturns.
Brad helped make Missouri the #1 state for net job growth in 2024 by championing pro-business policies.
Brad sponsored HB 499, creating earnings tax opportunity zones to incentivize business investment and job creation. He chaired the House Emerging Issues Committee and previously served as Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee. He also supported tort reform to lower costs for small businesses and backed policies to attract new employers to Missouri.
What this means for your family: More jobs means more opportunity for families in District 96 — and Brad is directly responsible for helping create that environment.
Yes. Brad Christ’s entire career before politics was spent in the private sector, giving him a firsthand understanding of what small businesses need to survive and grow.
That’s why he’s focused on cutting red tape. In 2026, Brad voted for the Missouri REINS Act, which requires any new state regulation costing more than $250,000 to be approved by the legislature before it takes effect. If a rule is going to cost small employers real money, someone accountable to voters should have to put their name on it.
What this means for your family: Local businesses can grow, hire, and keep their doors open when government stops standing in their way.
Brad sponsored House Bill 497 to reform Missouri’s workers’ compensation system, making it fairer for both employees and employers.
The bill ensures workers’ compensation covers genuine work-related injuries, prevents double recovery from both workers’ comp and private insurance, and streamlines the claims process to reduce abuse and backlogs. This protects injured workers while preventing the system from being exploited in ways that drive up costs for every employer.
What this means for your family: Honest workers get fair treatment faster, and businesses are protected from fraudulent claims that drive up costs for everyone.
Brad Christ supports quality public schools, expanded educational choice, and the largest education budget in Missouri history.
Brad voted for the largest education budgets in Missouri history, delivering record funding for public schools while expanding educational opportunities for Missouri families. Since FY2020, total foundation formula funding has increased from $3.34 billion to $4.27 billion — a 27.7% increase. Today, 31% of Missouri’s General Revenue goes toward funding public schools, six percentage points above the 25% required by the Missouri Constitution demonstrating the state’s substantial commitment to K–12 education.
Those investments are making a difference right here at home. State revenue going to Lindbergh Schools has increased 86%, from approximately $10.4 million in FY2022 to $19.5 million in FY2026. After increasing to $11.17 million in FY2023 and $11.62 million in FY2024, funding jumped to $16.35 million in FY2025 and $19.47 million in FY2026.
Missouri has also increased its commitment to school transportation. Transportation funding was approximately $93.2 million in FY2020, $93.9 million in FY2021 and $113.9 million in FY2022, with additional increases in subsequent budgets.
Brad believes strong public schools and greater educational choice can go hand in hand. Every child deserves access to a quality education, and every family should have options to find the school that best meets their child’s needs.
What this means for your family: District 96 families gain more educational options and better-funded schools without sacrificing quality or choice.
Brad formally opposed Ameren’s proposed 10% rate increase and voted for new protections designed to limit how quickly electric rates can rise.
Ameren’s proposal would add about $13 a month, or $156 a year, to the average residential bill, following a 12% increase in 2025. Brad filed his opposition with the Public Service Commission and voted for SB 4, which lowered the statutory rate-growth cap to 2.25% annually and strengthened other consumer protections.
What this means for your family: Brad is working to protect household budgets from higher electric rates and make sure families aren’t stuck paying costs created by massive new power users.
Yes. Brad Christ believes parents — not government — are ultimately responsible for their children’s education and upbringing.
Brad supports curriculum transparency, parental consent requirements, and policies that keep parents informed about what their children are being taught. He believes schools work best when they partner with families, not work around them.
What this means for your family: Parents in District 96 stay in the driver’s seat when it comes to their children’s education.
Brad Christ is leading the fight to end Missouri’s outdated and costly emissions testing program, which fails just 2% of vehicles and costs St. Louis County residents millions of hours and dollars each year.
With 98% of vehicles passing the test, the program no longer serves its original purpose given dramatically improved vehicle manufacturing standards over the past 40 years. Brad is leading a citizen petition drive to collect signatures from across the region and deliver them directly to the Governor, state lawmakers, and the Missouri Air Conservation Commission before the next legislative session. The typical emissions test costs a resident 1 to 3 hours and $24 in fees, creating a burden that falls hardest on working families and lower-income residents who can’t easily take time off work.
What this means for your family: Families in St. Louis County get back their time and money — and relief from a bureaucratic mandate that government agencies themselves admit no longer makes sense.
Ground-level ozone levels in the St. Louis region have dropped steadily over 20 years, making a strong case that the program has outlived its usefulness.
In FY2023, Missouri conducted 765,799 emissions tests and found just 15,433 initial failures — a 98% pass rate. Missourians are spending approximately $5,015 for each failed vehicle found, an economically irrational outcome. The number of testing stations has been declining for years as shops lose money on each test, creating longer waits and greater inconvenience for everyone. Brad’s position is backed by data, not ideology.
What this means for your family: An end to the program means no more mandatory trips, no more $24 fees, and no more lost hours from work or family time for a test that almost always passes.
Brad sponsored HB 502 to require healthcare providers to give patients clear, itemized billing statements — so families finally know what they’re actually paying for.
Hidden and confusing medical bills are a major source of financial stress for suburban families. Brad believes patients deserve to know their costs upfront so they can make informed decisions. This type of price transparency also creates market pressure that can bring healthcare costs down over time.
What this means for your family: Families get honest, readable bills and the ability to plan for medical expenses without fear of surprise charges.
Brad sponsored HB 500 to protect Missourians’ biometric data — fingerprints, facial geometry, and other personal identifiers — from being collected or sold without consent.
As technology companies collect more personal data than ever before, Brad believes government has a responsibility to protect citizens’ most sensitive information. This legislation puts the individual in control of their own biometric identity and creates accountability for companies that misuse it.
What this means for your family: Your personal data — including what makes you uniquely you — stays in your hands, not in a corporate database.
Brad opposes new large data centers until strong protections are in place to protect families, property owners, and local communities.
Brad supports a pause on new large data centers until St. Louis County establishes clear rules. He also believes data centers—not homeowners—should pay the costs of the power plants, transmission lines, substations, and infrastructure needed to serve them.
What this means for your family: Big Tech shouldn’t be allowed to drive up your electric bill or force communities to pay for infrastructure built to serve them.
Brad has pushed for major property tax reforms to protect homeowners and seniors from unfair assessments and unexpected tax increases.
When property tax reform stalled in the final days of the 2026 session, Brad called for a special session to finish the job. His priorities include ending annual reapplication for the senior property tax freeze, requiring physical inspections before assessments can jump more than 15%, putting the burden of proof on assessors when valuations are challenged, and requiring ballots to clearly show the real dollar cost of proposed tax increases.
What this means for your family: More protection against sudden property tax increases, a fairer assessment process, and greater transparency before your taxes can go up.
Yes. Brad Christ is pro-life and believes in protecting the lives of both the born and the unborn.
Brad believes in the dignity of every human life. He supports policies that protect the unborn and opposes the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortion providers. He also sponsored HB 1012, the Zero-Cost Adoption Fund Act, to make adoption more accessible and affordable for families who want to give children a loving home.
What this means for your family: Missouri law reflects the values of families who believe every life has dignity and deserves protection.
Yes. Brad Christ supports common-sense election integrity measures including voter ID so that every lawful vote counts.
Brad believes confidence in election outcomes is the foundation of a functioning democracy. Requiring photo identification to vote is a widely supported safeguard that most Missourians view as common sense, and Brad has consistently backed measures to ensure Missouri elections are fair, secure, and trustworthy.
What this means for your family: Voters in District 96 can trust that their vote counts and is not diluted by fraud or irregularity.
Brad Christ is running to continue delivering results on public safety, property tax relief, economic growth, and giving suburban St. Louis families more control over their own lives.
In his next term, Brad plans to continue the fight to provide property tax relief, strengthen law enforcement recruitment and retention, keep data centers from raising utility rates, protect seniors from property tax increases, and grow Missouri’s economy. He chairs the Emerging Issues Committee and is focused on getting ahead of the challenges families will face in the decade ahead.
What this means for your family: The work is not finished — and Brad Christ is ready to keep fighting for District 96 families.
